Australians are obsessing over this ‘cheat’s’ lasagne which uses layers of beef ravioli, tomato sauce and cheese in a delicious pasta bake.
The ravioli bake recipe was posted online by Australian mum Bree, and other home cooks are obsessing over the delightfully easy to make dish.
The recipe calls for a packet of ravioli, Bree uses beef, a big jar of passata and a jar of pasta sauce, some roasted vegetables and cheese.
A mum has revealed her recipe to this ‘cheater’s lasagna’ and it is super easy to make
The mum mixes vegetables into pasta sauce, grates cheese and then is ready to cook
She puts layers of sauce and cheese all they way to the top of the pan
‘Spray baking dish with oil, spread some sauce on the bottom, add a later of uncooked ravioli, then some more sauce and cheese.
Then more sauce, ravioli, sauce and cheese, repeat until you run out,’ the mum said.
‘I do lots of layers of sauce as I hate dry pasta bakes and the ravioli isn’t pre cooked. So i try and make sure sauce is touching both sides of the pasta.’
The mum puts cheese on top of the pasta bake before putting it into the oven.
‘I put it in a 200° oven for 45 minutes or FMovies so then remove foil and brown cheese for 10 minutes or so.’
Sauce is the first layer as the ravioli is not pre-cooked so needs the liquid cushion
This recipe is so fun and easy that the kids can help – here is Bree’s son putting it together
The dish needs to be covered with foil and baked for 45 minutes, and then the foild is taken off and it is baked for another ten
She also suggests the bake would be nice with a chicken ravioli and creamy sauce.
The easy recipe feeds four adults, and is a fun thing to cook with the family.
Mums commenting on the recipe said it ‘looked amazing and perfect for lunch leftovers’.
‘I’ve got ravioli in the fridge for tomorrow’s dinner!
I’m definitely trying this,’ another said.
